Ripplin’ Waters Recordings
The first two recordings
are from the singles recorded for Interstate 40 records. The others are either from the “You Ain’t Heard the Half of It” cassette album (also known as the “Half Album”) or an outdoor concert with Al Bruno on guitar (Academy of Country Music Best Guitarist 12 time winner), and Bobby Furgo (from Leonard Cohen’s band and Grant Lee Buffalo band) on fiddle. At the concert, Al and Bobby’s parts were improvised on the spot since they hadn’t heard many of the songs beforehand. All of the recordings except the singles were done in one take, ragged or not.
“I Picked A Winner in You”
was written by Brian and Sylvia, and “Sunshine and You” was written by Brian. All except the singles also have the inimitable (and somewhat predictable and boring) Mr. Roland on drums (Roland TR 707 drum machine). RIP Mr. Roland – our cat killed him.
We hope you enjoy these!
Whatever Way The Wind Blows Written by Marshall Crenshaw
This was Ripplin’ Waters first single with Sylvia on lead vocals, Brian on slide guitar, Al Bruno on lead guitar and bass and Rhio Hersch on drums. Al Bruno was a regular, although infrequent, member of Ripplin’ Waters.
